Funeral Home Records

Some years ago the burial records of the J. E. Fauber Funeral Home were turned over to Jones Memorial Library by the Whitten Funeral Home for preservation. The collection includes burial records, “first call sheets” and sales records of the J. E. Fauber Funeral Home of Lynchburg, Virginia (1919–1952). It also includes burial records of J. J. Hughes and Company (1915–1917), and the Lynchburg Undertaking Company, Inc. (1918), predecessors or the Fauber establishment, as well as burial records of the Virginia Funeral Chapel, Inc. (1952–1985), which succeeded the Fauber Funeral Home.

The database of these records provides the ability to search for the burial record of a relative and opens up a whole new set of records for our patrons to use in their research.

Reproductions of both "first call records" and sales records are available for purchase for $10 each. The Jones Memorial Library staff will mail copies via the U. S. Postal Service. Orders may be placed online or by downloading the Record Request Form (pdf) and mailing it in along with a check to the Library.
